Applications are now open for the fully funded 2026 Pathways to Politics for Women program, supporting women from regional Australia to step into political leadership.

The QUT Pathways to Politics for Women program is Australia’s most comprehensive and award-winning political training initiative, designed to equip diverse women with the skills, confidence and networks to pursue political careers at all levels of government.

Delivered over three months, the program combines practical, hands-on learning with expert guidance. Participants attend three two-day workshops in Brisbane, join virtual classrooms, access an online learning platform, and benefit from networking opportunities and executive coaching sessions.

The curriculum covers every stage of a political journey—from making the decision to run, understanding party systems and pre-selection, to developing campaign strategies, fundraising, media engagement, and navigating ethical decision-making. Participants also gain valuable insight into economics, policy development and political leadership.

Importantly, the program is designed to be accessible for women across regional Australia. Travel and accommodation bursaries are available for rural and regional participants, ensuring equal opportunity to take part and thrive.

Key program dates include workshops in August, September and October, along with a networking event and graduation in October. In-person sessions are held at QUT’s Executive Education Centre in Brisbane, complemented by online learning via Zoom.

Funded through the generous support of the Trawalla Foundation and QUT, and with additional backing for regional access, the program is fully funded for participants.

If you’re ready to embrace your political ambitions, grow as a leader, and contribute meaningfully to Australia’s future, this program offers a supportive and inclusive environment to begin that journey.

Applications are open nationally from 5 March to 30 April.

“Completing the Pathways to Politics for Women program in 2025 was a defining moment for me. It was a true turning point. The program transforms lived experience into the confidence and skills needed to step into political spaces where our voices are needed. It reinforced that everyday people, those who care deeply and understand the issues, belong in decision making roles. If you have ever considered a future in politics, I highly recommend this program. I would also be happy to speak with anyone interested, having recently graduated.”
