A New Chapter for Regional Development Australia Wide Bay Burnett

July marked not only the beginning of a new financial year, but a new chapter for Regional Development Australia Wide Bay Burnett (RDAWBB), with the team officially opening our new office premises at 3/79 Torquay Road, Pialba.

The office warming brought together RDAWBB Board members, staff, regional stakeholders and special guests, including Fraser Coast Councillors Michelle Byrne (Division 1) and Sara Diana Souvlis (Division 9), as well as Andrew Cripps, Special Commissioner for Regional and Rural Queensland.

The new office reflects the growth we have experienced and our expanding role in supporting communities, businesses and industries across Wide Bay Burnett. The larger space provides greater capacity to collaborate with stakeholders, host regional conversations and deliver programs that respond to local opportunities and challenges.

Growing from a small team of two to eleven, RDAWBB now delivers a broad range of initiatives spanning industry engagement, business support, drought resilience and workforce development. The new premises provide a space that better supports this work and the organisation’s continued commitment to working with the region, for the region.

RDAWBB Chair Bill Trevor reflected on the organisation’s journey and the dedication of the team behind its growth, while Director Sotera Trevaskis highlighted the strength of a team that brings deep regional knowledge and experience to its work every day.

The event also marked the launch of our new Strategic Plan, outlining the organisation’s priorities for the years ahead. Building on existing work while responding to emerging priorities, the plan reinforces RDAWBB’s role as a source of regional intelligence, a regional advocate, a connector of people and opportunities, and a storyteller for Wide Bay Burnett.

The evening was a celebration of how far RDAWBB has come, our partnerships that help us move forward with our work, and the opportunities ahead for the region.
