A Celebration of the Wide Bay

Updated: Jul 9

An annual event, the recent Wide Bay Regional Promotion Night, held a Queensland Parliament, was a unique opportunity to showcase, support, shape, and celebrate our vibrant region to an audience of politicians that work for our communities across this big state.

From workforce initiatives and education to world-class experiences, passionate operators, unique flavours, and natural beauty, the Wide Bay region has so much to offer and contribute to the broader Queensland economy.

Over 30 exhibitors, from the world-renowned Bundaberg Rum and Ocean King Prawns to eco-tourism leaders like Lady Elliott Island and Kingfisher Bay Resort, the diversity, representation, and obvious flagrant love for the region we call home was as sweet as any Tinaberries strawberry or cheeky Raspberry Gin from the Spirit Collective - all together in one room on one night.

This year’s theme was ‘Bridging River and Coast – Showcasing our Local Strengths’, and hosts Stephen Bennett MP, John Barounis MP, and David Lee MP said the night was successful in delivering a powerfully colourful and clear message to all parliamentarians.

“Every year this event grows, and this year’s was no exception. Our producers, operators and businesses truly impressed, and the level of engagement from decision-makers shows just how much respect and interest there is in our region.” - Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett,

"The night is a fantastic opportunity to spotlight the electorate and thank the hardworking local businesses and organisations. It was a chance to remind Brisbane just how important our region is to Queensland’s tourism and economic success." - Member for Hervey Bay David Lee

Our region has so much to offer – heritage, tourism and innovation - and last night we had the chance to share that with the people shaping Queensland’s future. I’m incredibly proud of our exhibitors and community groups who made it all possible,” - Maryborough MP John Barounis
