In Kingaroy, Ag Horizons forum opened for nearly 140 attendees, against the backdrop of Bega’s 2025 decision to close its local processing plant, prompting frank discussion on the mounting pressures facing Australia’s peanut industry, from imports and supermarket market power to biosecurity concerns and supply chain fairness.

The Youth Employment Pathways Program (YEPP) supports young people aged 15 to 24 across the Wide Bay Burnett, recognising that the path to training or employment is not always straightforward. The program meets participants where they are, addressing social, educational, financial, physical and personal barriers with practical, structured support tailored to each individual.

After months of consultation with industry, this work has resulted in a clear set of recommendations regarding the clean energy transition and its impact on regional businesses.
