Youth Employment Pathways Program (YEPP)
For young people aged 15 to 24, the path to training or employment isn't always straightforward. YEPP meets them where they are, addressing the social, educational, financial, physical and personal barriers that can get in the way, with support that's practical, structured and tailored to each person.
The program backs young people across Wide Bay Burnett into stable, long-term work and training pathways, with a focus on apprenticeships, traineeships and emerging industries including construction, manufacturing and renewable energy.
What the program delivers
Participants take part in four 12-week intakes across the year, each combining accredited and non-accredited training with hands-on skills development and direct exposure to local industry. Training includes industry-recognised certifications such as White Card and trade-related skill sets, designed to open doors into real roles.
Work placements with local employers are built into every intake, giving participants first-hand workplace experience and a clear pathway to employment.
Who the program supports
YEPP is designed for young people who are not currently in education, employment or training, or who are at risk of disengaging. The program places a strong emphasis on supporting First Nations young people, as well as those navigating unemployment risk or contact with the youth justice system.
Partnerships and delivery
Delivering real outcomes takes more than one organisation. YEPP brings together key partners to coordinate wellbeing and vocational services around each participant, setting them up for a lifetime of learning and employment rather than short-term wins.
Program focus
YEPP aligns with regional workforce priorities, including:
-
Promotion of apprenticeships and traineeships
-
Growth sectors including agriculture, manufacturing and renewable energy
-
Targeted support for young people, First Nations peoples, mature age participants and culturally and linguistically diverse communities
Holistic support. Thriving wellbeing. Real pathways into work.
YEPP backs young people across the Wide Bay Burnett region to build confidence and move forward with purpose, creating outcomes that continue long after the program ends.
