John’s career has spanned banking, finance, public sector, local government and over the past 14 years has led stakeholder engagement responsibilities for a Government Owned Corporation. John has a long history of working with rural communities at the grassroots level, contributing his strategic and innovative skills that are guided by a genuine care for people and communities to have better futures. 

His day-to-day role involves building partnerships, creatively developing place-based solutions and working with communities to prepare early for planned and unplanned changed. 

John is a director of Red Earth Community Foundation and has a passion for philanthropy and assisting rural communities establish their own place-based giving and solutions. He played a key role in bringing Red Earth’s “Red Pitch” to the South Burnett region – a live crowd-funding event which raised close to $10,000 for two not-for-profit projects in its first outing. When John moved to the South Burnett with his family in 1999, he established the South Burnett Youth Investment Program that focussed on supporting young people pursue their talents and goals to the next level.

In his “spare time”, John is also a marriage celebrant and has helped hundreds of couples prepare for their special day.
