Georgie Somerset


Georgie Somerset is a beef producer with a wide range of experiences and skills including communication, marketing and strategic planning.

Actively involved in a family owned beef property in the South Burnett, and mother of three, Georgie is a board member of Royal Flying Doctor Servcie (Qld Section), Australian Broadcasting Corporation and Children’s Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service. President of AgForce Queensland, Georgie also chairs the Red Earth Community Foundation South Burnett and through this co-founded the South Burnett Community Leadership Program in 2013.

Georgie has worked with regions across Australia, and has experience in agribusiness, tourism and regional development. A Fellow of the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation, the Institute for Resilient Regions and Australian Institute of Company Directors, her particular focus is on strategic planning, developing relationships within and across organisations, and encouraging individuals to reach their full potential. She believes living regionally can be an advantage and actively advocates for effective regional infrastructure, especially telecommunications and transport.

Georgie was bestowed with a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the 2020 Australia Day Honours List for her services to primary industry, women and the community.
