RDA WBB chair Bill Trevor welcomed Mr Nioa’s appointment and said his understanding of regional commercial, business and agricultural industries would be invaluable.

“Tony is well known and regarded across the region for his business acumen and community service and is a former chair of the Area Consultative Committee on the Sunshine Coast, a forerunner to RDA’s,” Cr Trevor said.

“In his role as a leading real estate agent he has a strong understanding of trends and investment opportunities and his network of connections stretches well beyond just the Wide Bay Burnett. He will compliment the wide range of skills and talent we have on the RDA WBB committee.”

Mr Nioa said he was thankful for the opportunity to serve on the RDA and was looking forward to helping make a difference.

“Thank you for this opportunity, especially with such a successful team,” Mr Nioa said.

“I have noted with admiration the transformational projects that have come to fruition under the program RDA has aligned with and look forward to promoting economic growth and development within the Wide Bay Burnett.”

Chair Trevor said he wished to thank outgoing deputy chair Daniel Poacher for his years of dedication to the committee as a volunteer.

“Daniel was a good support to me as chair and an enthusiastic committee member and he will be missed.”

Mr Nioa joins current committee members Georgie Somerset (South Burnett), Kristy Frahm (North and South Burnett), Kerren Smith (Gympie), Julie Williams (Gympie), Ed Gibson (Fraser Coast), Tania O’Shea (Bundaberg) and chair Bill Trevor (Bundaberg).
